Professional make-believer.

Hey there. I’m Claudia. You can call me Claudia, because it’s the only name I have. (Someone once tried “Cloud” on for size. Neither of us felt good about it.)

If my relationship with writing were to be turned into a cult-favorite romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, the trope would definitely fall under “enemies-to-friends-with-benefits-to-lovers”.

Why? Because: is writing my biggest enemy? Yes. Do I still do it on a daily basis? Also yes.

Spoiler alert: I end up falling in love with writing in the end. It’s the cliché to end all clichés. Settles those butterflies in your stomach and leaves you with an idealized version of what romance should look like. Writing and me? We’re like two peas in a pod. Our love story spans decades, emo phases, fan fiction — you name it. We’ve been through it all together, writing and me. And now we’ve evolved as a partnership in advertising. We get along well there, too.

When I'm not avidly personifying my writing ability, you can find me making an alarming amount of Vine & TikTok references, playing Dungeons & Dragons, reading, listening to serialized podcasts, or cuddling with my cats. (If they let me.)

Some (actual, real) things my advertising friends have said about me while working with me with little to no context:

“You are a powerhouse. The mitochondria!”

—Ashlyn, designer

“[You] wrote the Declaration of Independence. And single handedly wrestled a dragon that nearly ended humanity.”

—Dylan, designer

“Saw [what] you just wrote, and you are so so ridiculous. You need to be aware and keep ridiculous things you write in handy for your portfolio.”

—Dulce, art director

“[Your presentation was] so good! It was such a journey. I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with black cats.”

—Haley, art director

(Pst. By the way, my friend Meg drew these ghosties for me. Say hi if you see her.)
